No Explanation

I took my blog private yesterday morning with no explanation. I apologize for my lack of consideration. I kept trying to write a post to explain before I did that, but I couldn't keep my opinions and anger out of it. I have a couple drafts that are real doozies. The temptation to press [Publish] almost overwhelmed me. I'm still having trouble resisting raking some folks over the coals. My friends aren't my cubs, but my Mama Tigress has her claws out, ears laid back and a growl deep in her throat. That's not working well with my laryngitis. ;-)

I am going to be visiting family the next couple weeks. Signal strength there usually is non-existent unless I am outside. The weather is brutally hot and humid, so I may not even be checking blogs, nevermind commenting or posting one of my own. Since I wouldn't be keeping much of an eye on my blog, I also thought it might be easier to simply go private instead of returning to civilization only to find these new trolls have used my blog as their toilet. Eewww.

So, to contain my ire off my blog, and not have a sh*tty mess to clean up later, I went private. I keep trying to take my own regular advice to, "Breathe!" about this interview and articles fiasco. It's starting to work. Some.

I also decided I don't care about the trolls. If any of them get nasty here, it doesn't matter. I turned on comment moderation. I'll clean out any crappola before it posts. I'll try to stay attentive and approve new comments through the weekend. After that, for a couple weeks or so, it will be hit and miss how often I see comments pending approval. It's not as though this is a huge concern for me, as I don't post often and only have a small following, but for those few of you who check on me, I thought I should explain.

So. I'm back. Again. For a few days. I love roller coasters! ;-)

About this article issue and the catalyst for it... Many people have posted their opinions. Have you seen them? There are some wonderful posts that speak to this, but mainly are about the strength of our community. Rogue, Bonnie, PK, TL Bucko, Wilma, Susie, Blondie, Belle L, Grace, Rebekah, Jillian Bea, June, Dana and on and on and on. There are so many I can't list all of them. I haven't even had the chance to read some of them, just the beginning blurbs on my feed. How do I know they're all great posts if I haven't read them? Well, I know these people - I know you.

From one of my favorite movies, "The Mighty Ducks":

"And we're gonna stick together. You know why?"

"Because we are the Ducks. And Ducks fly together."

"That's right, Jan."

"And just when you think they're about to break apart."

"Ducks fly together."

"And when the wind blows hard and the sky is black."

"Ducks fly together."

"And when the roosters are crowing and cows are spinning circles in the pastures."

"Uh, okay. Ducks fly together."

"And when everyone says it can't be done. Ducks fly together."

"Now, new Ducks, and old Ducks, must unite under a new banner. And I thought perhaps something like this."

I don't have new jerseys for us. We don't have a slogan, except "this thing we do," "baby steps" and "communicate." ;-) I don't know what our "banner" looks like, but I think of us as something like this:

Ducks fly together!!!

Promoting Spankee Doodle Dandy!

Some of our illustrious spanking fiction writers have another blog hopping event going on! They have posted FREE spanking stories on their blogs for our entertainment!

Prizes are being offered through a random drawing for those who read all the contest's spanking stories and comment on their blogs, and report on Anastasia Vitsky's blog they have read all the stories and left comments on each blog. Ana has her own story post, a contest rules post, and a post to ask questions, report broken links or address other problems. Some authors also are randomly awarding prizes to people who comment on their individual blogs, so make sure you visit each of their blogs!

Head over to Ana's for complete rules and the list of participating authors and their blog links. You'll also get to see all the pretty banners and graphics at Ana's that I can't reproduce for you here from my phone. ;-)

Get started here:

Gettin' My GOOB On...Again

I started this challenge last week with everyone else who started. No, really, I DID, and I put up a post to prove it. Then I had technical difficulties. I edited my joining-in post, did battle with Blogger, conceded defeat, then managed to delete the one I thought I had fixed...

Sigh, it's a long story, not worth revisiting. The good news is I found a way to deal with my aggravation by making myself an HoH hat and creating a silly post to spank Blogger. That helped me worked out some of my irritation. I did not, however, get much else accomplished in the way of working out according to my intended goals for the week.

Instead, I babysat a baby for a few days, overnights too. Oh, I cleaned, and cooked, did all my usual stuff that keeps me busy, but I didn't do any of this all week:

MY WEEKLY GOALS:
  • 10 minutes of slow warm-up on my elliptical
  • 10-20 reps each of  my standard stretching/mobility exercises
  • 10 minutes on the rower

That was my intent, anyway, to gettin' my GOOB on. However...I didn't get off my butt with this challenge and really get on anything at all - well, besides my HoH hat. Wasn't that a really pretty, cool hat?!! ;-)

But, I'm calling a Do-Over! I'm starting GOOB again, because I want to be able to start my Saturday progress report with the success award image Celeste gave us:

I have to tell you, though, there probably will be a little bit of this going on "behind your back" - just sayin'! ;-)

Hey! Maybe I can figure out how to do this (with proper mirror placements to see what I'm typing):

Are you wondering, "What the heck is a GOOB?"

If, by some chance, anyone is reading here who has no idea what in blazes is a GOOB, and you want to get in on the fun, keep reading. I've given a bit of info about it below

But what if I don't have my own blog? Can I be a part of the community fun?

YES!!! If you don't have your own blog, but want to participate, feel free to use my blog to announce you are joining. I even offer options:

  • You can author a guest post that includes your weekly goals, and post your daily progress and weekly Saturday update on your own guest post. Email me if you want me to publish a guest post for you.
  • You can choose, instead, to piggyback on this post in the comments section to announce you are joining, then come back and do your daily/Saturday progress updates on this or any subsequent post.
  • Remember, if you want to join the motivational/accountability email group of participants, you also can post a comment on Ana's blog here. You probably could simply email her, too, requesting to be added to the email group. You can find her email addy at her site on her right side bar.

What is the GOOB Exercise Challenge?

Spanking fiction writers Anastasia Vitsky (Ana) of "governingana" and Celeste Jones of "Spanking Stories by Celeste Jones," and Minelle Labraun of "My Breath," started a "Get Off Our Butts" (GOOB) Exercise Challenge for anyone who wishes to become healthier through exercise, and obtain some motivation and accountability from others to assist you in your efforts. They also want us to have fun by sharing our goals and progress.

Please check Ana's introductory Exercise Challenge post for the rules (they're very simple), and for updates. In this post, Ana shared her reasons for wanting to begin this challenge, posted her modest goals for her first week, and encouraged participants to avoid the potential "fail trap" by prohibiting reference to weight loss goals/progress. Ana also blamed Celeste for naming this contest "GOOB." Lol! Ana also has a side bar that lists GOOB participants. Ana's last update, to date, noted we can join in a group motivation/accountability email list by adding your email to her comments section of her Exercise Challenge post.

Celeste's introductory "Get Off Our Butts Challenge" post talks more about the challenge, and says she is keeping a master list of bloggers participating in GOOB. Send an email to Celeste if you would like your blog/name to be added to her sidebar. Her email addy is listed on her site.

Minelle's first GOOB post, "Get Off Our Butts Exercise Challenge" also describes the challenge and lists her first week's goals. Minelle and Ana appear to have a side deal going on. It appears they may be up to some shenanigans regarding possible punishments if one or the other doesn't meet her weekly goals. I'm treading carefully around these two. ;-)

I'd also recommend you go over to Cat's blog, "Giggles, Grins and Reflections" and read her encouraging post to us GOOB-ers, also entitled, "Get Off Our Butts Exercise Challenge." Cat includes some valuable guidelines and reminders for being sensible when engaging in exercise and fitness, particularly if you decide to include a change in your normal diet routine and have any form of weight loss as one of your goals (remember, weight related goals are to be unpublished, please!).

~ ~ ~

Lastly, from me: Start slowly. Do not push yourself. Be safe, sane and sensible! This is NOT "no pain, no gain" until you end up like this:

If you plan to make significant changes to your daily exercise routine (or lack thereof), or intend to start a vigorous workout, get a medical check-up and share your weekly exercise goals with your doctor. S/he can advise if your plan is good for you, and can make recommendations for a well-rounded fitness plan tailored to your needs and physical restrictions. Furthermore, if you decide to include major changes to your normal diet as a private part of this challenge, I also encourage you to see your physician, and request a consultation with a nutritionist. Be safe, be sane, be sensible/careful, and have fun!

The first week of the challenge concluded yesterday, Saturday 12/01/2012, but anybody can join in at any time. The challenge is completely individualized. The premise is overall health and fitness. No competition, no comparisons to anybody else, just encouragement, motivation, accountability and fun. We are to post our exercise goals for the week and follow up each Saturday by posting how well we did each week. I believe some bloggers are posting daily updates in one way or another. Plus, of course, we can join the email group for daily motivation/accountability. (I need to go do that. Sheesh. Lol!)

The focus is not on weight loss, "dieting" or trimming down into your high school jeans. In fact, it is strongly requested that nobody post information regarding weight loss goals. It's not about losing weight or inches. It's NOT about LOSING anything. It's all about gaining a healthier and more fit body and mind, through exercise. Of course, it's also about gaining support from our friends here as we GOOB together. ;-)

Bend Over, Blogger!

I'm putting on my HoH hat (yes, I can - I made one just for this),

and I'm rounding up the most wicked implements I can find,

because I'm going to flog the hide right off of Blogger. Ggggrrrrr....

I lost count of how many times I tried to reload my GOOB post in the past couple days, but Blogger just kept sitting its happy little *ss down and refusing to do what I told it to do, which was to PUBLISH my post the way I wanted it. Simple. Do your job, Blogger.

I had to put my intention to repost GOOB on the back burner on Wednesday night, or I was going to flame out. I think my ears are still smoking.

I also tried to load a ditzy little post really early Thursday morning, after my last thwarted attempt to GOOB with the gals. That post was just for fun, something quick to help me cool off, imagining potential captions for this photo from a ttwd standpoint. ;-)

I was still typing possible captions for this and a couple other silly photos when Blogger just blinked out - all gone, not even a draft. I wanted to bite something!

Err, umm, not that, although I really do like...ahem! Staying on topic...which was...I forget. I mean, which happens to be feeding my mad, I wanted to bite this:

But with much bigger teeth, more like these:

No, of course not puppy teeth! But omigosh! I couldn't resist. Isn't that the cutest puppy you've ever seen? I found about a hundred photos of puppies biting something. Too sweet! Aaaawwwww! Now, THIS is more like it!

(Okay, Irishey, stop with the puppy photos...) Now, this, THIS is MUCH better:

I don't only want to bite Blogger, I want to beat Blogger's butt! Tan its tush. Whip its woo-woo. Blister the bejesus out of its behonkis. Annihilate its *ss. Cane its caboose, destroy its derriere...

Bend Over, Blogger. Your big, bad bottom is begging to be burned, and this bodaciously audacious HoH-*itch is going to bite your bum, roast your rump, and scorch your sit spot!

You know what? I'm too distracted by thoughts prompted by the bite-the-belly photo ;-) to continue with my alliterative tantrum. But, I think I've covered all the bases, so everyone is clear I want to bust Blogger's Butt??! Besides, I want to see if this will post.

Phew! That was fun. I feel better now.

Licorice-Whip Flogger

Ronnie at Heart and Soul just posted a photo of the flogger she wants for Christmas, and asked readers what they would wish for. Her photo brought to mind an incident I had forgotten all about.

That flogger she wants looks as though it's made from monster-sized red licorice whips, and I KNOW those things pack a wallop even in their original size right from the package. Scary looking! Lol!

Actually, thinking about this brought back fun memories, but not about spankings, per se. We used to take long bus trips to sporting events in high school, and we all packed meals and snacks, and usually shared our bounty with each other. Someone usually brought a package of the ever popular red licorice whips.

It started out, as most things do, when one kid smacked another with a licoric whip on the thigh. Somebody snatched the package, and all of a sudden several of us were armed and dangerous. It was silly fun, but, of course, it wouldn't end there.

We had learned those dang things leave welts and, as we all either played on the basketball team, were cheerleaders, or both, our hands, arms and legs showed those little welts. That time, there weren't many welts, and they were small, light and not really noticeable. It taught us not to mess around with the licorice whips on the ride TO the game, but afterward...

The next trip, several of us brought bags of them and, as things do, the fun quickly escalated from using one whip to snap at each other, to each of us making our own floggers (though I doubt any of us knew to call them that). We grabbed a handful of the licorice whips by one of the ends and flailed each other on the arms and legs with them. We had to stay seated on the bus, and we had to avoid drawing the attention of the bus driver, coach and sponsor sitting at the front of the bus. There were a lot of muffled exclamations!

I had wickedly raised welts on my hands, arms, calves and the fronts of my thighs. I also had one wickedly ticked off mother when she saw the welts the next day. She was going to go tangle with the lack of adult supervision and whoever tangled with her baby, so to spare them from her wrath, I had to admit I was giving as good as I got.

Lecture time, and extra chores. After that, she also took what I think was perverse delight in buying those red licorice whips to keep around the house for us kids to snack on. Sheesh, Mom.

I had forgotten all about that until I saw Ronnie's photo. She also got my creative juices flowing about what I want for Christmas, and I've decided I want to go toy shopping again with D. We had so much fun the last (and only) time we did this. I don't know what toy I want for Christmas, but I sure don't want a flogger that reminds me of my mama being mad at me! Lol!

Liebster Lives On (Thanks Blondie, Sunnygirl & Willie!)

It was cool to win an award before I launched my first blog post. Lol! I'm also very tardy in responding to the directions - argh - please forgive me.

The best I can figure from what I’ve read elsewhere, The Liebster Award is a way to spread the blogger/blogging love, affords blogs the opportunity to expand their readership and encourages/allows bloggers to get to know each other better. By the way, from my research I’ve discovered the first Liebsters making the rounds were for blogs with fewer than 3000 readers, there were only 5 questions, and each blogger nominated 5 other bloggers. Apparently, somebody(s) along the way has changed the rules. Imagine that!

I was given The Liebster Award by Blondie, Sunnygirl and Wilma, to give random facts about me, answer questions they posed, and create my own set of questions for bloggers to whom I present this award. I’m very late in responding to this, so I won’t resurrect this award by passing it on to another 11 bloggers who have “won’ already. I think I‘ve seen this on every blog I frequent, so I‘ll spare you all the repetition.

However, I answered all the questions, and I posted questions of my own below. It was easy to provide random facts and to answer most questions put to me, but I had a very difficult time coming up with new questions. I don’t know why that is, but I would appreciate it if you would pick at least one of my questions to answer here in a comment. Of course, feel free to answer all 11 here or on your own blog.

Liebster Award Rules:
  • Pass the award onto 11 other blogs (while making sure one notifies the blogger that one nominated them!)
  • One writes up 11 NEW questions directed towards YOUR nominees.
  • One is not allowed to nominate the blog who nominated one's own blog!
  • One pastes the award picture into one's blog. (You can google the image, there are plenty of them!)

11 random facts about me:

I love being outdoors.

Weather fascinates me.

I usually don’t have a favorite color, food, song, book, movie, gemstone, etc., but I do have favoriteS of most things.

I am a veggie hound.

Chipmunks live under the deck outside our bedroom, and blue herons come to visit our pond.

I used to play clarinet and piano, neither very well.

I have nothing pierced except my ears.

I have a collection of bells.

I am the luckiest mother in the world.

Although not nearly as limber as I once was, I am still more limber than my children.

Anyone who really knows me could identify me from the above 10 factoids.

My questions for my award recipients (readers):
1. What is your deepest objection/fear about people in your “real” life discovering your non-traditional ttwd dynamic (or your wish/plan for some element of ttwd)?

2. What is your exercise routine(s) each week?

3. Do you have regular date nights with your partner? Describe.

4. How often/what do you cook/bake from scratch?

5. If you could build the house of your dreams, what would it look like inside and out?

6. How important has your education been to your career/life, and would you like to continue formal education/training?

7. What is your most frequent reading genre and why?

8. If you could choose any another life path than the one you have, what would it be and why?

9. Considering the available resources and supplies in your home and on your property at this moment, how long could you survive if you were unable to leave your property and were without any publicly provided utilities (electric, gas, water, sewer, etc.)?

10. What was your last “ah-ha” moment?

11. What, if any, formal or informal dance/dance steps are you able to do?

Blondie’s questions for me, and my answers:

1. If you were with a group of people talking about DD/TTWD, who would you be? The moderator, the main speaker, a participant or in the audience?
Moderator.

2. Would your marriage/relationship work without DD/TTWD?
Yes.

3. Do you like the holiday season?
Yes, with one exception: I love the spirit, music, lights and decorations, festive atmosphere, everything. I do not like the commercial frenzy.

4. How many people do you speak to from blogland?
About 20 on their blogs, 2 in email.

5. Could you switch roles with your partner? (spanker/spankee)
Not sure I would WANT to spank him. The thought doesn‘t do much for me, personally (there is at least one post in that!). However, if that was something he wanted from me, and depending on whether he had a good reaction and if the shift in our dynamic was positive after we tried it, I would do it. I'm feeling rather odd about that.

6. How would you explain this relationship to your child?
I would lovingly stonewall them. My relationship is my personal, private business, not my child‘s.  However, if my child has specific questions or concerns, I would address those, depending on their age, level of concern, type of questions and true need to know. Simple curiosity is not need. Deep worry about me, or broaching their own relationship problems might cause me to be more forthcoming. Tough question, Blondie.

7. Is there someone’s blog that you read that you cannot understand?
I don't think so. I understand, at least on an intellectual level, that different things appeal to different people, and they do what works for them. I’m intrigued by the motivations or reasons.

8. What do you like best about blogging?
I haven’t been blogging long enough to know if I like it or not. I like the camaraderie and support I see among other bloggers, and the ability to be open about topics one normally doesn’t discuss with family, coworkers or friends in the real/physical/non-cyber world. I was finding that as a lurker/commentor, and hope it continues as I blog.

9. Do you blush easily?
Yes. I hate that.

10. Does your partner either read, co-post or not read your blog?
He doesn’t read it.

11. Can you name 25 blogs you read just from memory?
Yes, either by blog name, blogger’s name or my mental image of the blogger.

Sunnygirl’s questions for me, and my answers:

1. Do you prefer coffee or tea?
Yes.

2. Are you democrat, republican or independent?
Registered Republican, strongly Independent leanings, and an appreciation for some of the Democratic platform.

3. What's your favorite part of the country?
Home is my first love, where I grew up and raised my family. But, I love the mountains, woods/forests, plains, unpopulated beaches, anything nature.

4. How do you eat an Oreo cookie?
One bite at a time. Bite, chew, swallow. ;-) Occasionally, I dunk it in milk, other times I twist it apart and eat the cream filling first.

5. Do you prefer to drive or fly when traveling?
Both. It depends on where we‘re going, how far we must travel, and how long we plan to stay, how much “stuff“ I need to bring with me...

6 . When do you open your Christmas presents?
Both on Christmas Eve and Christmas morning.

7. What's your favorite time of year?
The holiday season.

8. Do you prefer to read actual books or use an E reader?
Actual books.

9. How do you prefer being spanked?
Well. (I should explain, but I won’t.)

10. Were you urged to write/blog by PK?
I hadn’t been urged to do anything by PK until I started this blog. Gggrrrr. Lol! Then she tagged me to write for her Fantasy Friday. Poor PK, you know not what you ask.

11. What kind of car do you drive?
Pickup truck and big SUV.

Wilma’s questions for me, and my answers:

1. What celebrity do you resemble?
No idea. Not copping out, I simply can’t see a resemblance in myself to any celebrity, and nobody has ever told me, “You look like ______,” but people often tell me I remind them of someone they know.

2. What do you think your husband/HoH looks sexiest in?
Anything blue. Or red. Or green. Or black. Or brown. Or white. Or… I love how he looks in polo shirts or button downs, but sweaters or t-shirts are great, too. And, I do love the way he wears his jeans!

3. Aside from reading my blog, what is your favourite pastime?
Reading other blogs. Lol! Truth? Sex is first, and spending time doing just about anything with D. After that, I love being with my kids, reading books, nature walks, socializing with family or friends.

4. What ONE word best sums up you?
Compelling. (Depends on who you ask, but I am described often as nice but intimidating, or intimidating but nice. I don’t know if there is an equivalent word for that combination in the English language. “Compelling“ is close to what they mean, I guess.)

5. What is one of your guilty pleasures?
Dark chocolate…nah. I don’t feel the least bit guilty about that or any other pleasure. Lol!

6. What is a pet peeve of yours?
Stickers - price stickers stuck to my purchases, kid stickers stuck to my floor or fridge, bumper stickers, stickers that NEED to be on something but start peeling off, stickers that DON’T belong on something permanently but you can never get them off completely. Yep, stickers. Stickers suck.

7. What is your favourite day of the year?
Christmas Eve evening through Christmas Day morning.

8. Again aside from me, who would you like to have a drink with from Blog Land?
Wow, I just had about 50 people simultaneously pop into my head! Guess my answer is, “The ever-growing group of people I am getting to know here.” Let’s all have a cyber drink together tonight.

9. What irrational fears do you have?
Something really bad happening to a loved one, wild rats and other wild rodents (domesticated rats/rodents don‘t bother me at all).

10. What is the best gift you ever received?
God’s Grace. My children. My D. My parents, of course, and that they made themselves available to care for my children while I worked. My family and friends. Materially, nothing jumped to mind, and nothing comes to mind after giving it much thought. Odd, because I do like things. Lol!

11. What is your least favourite sexual position (ha..you didn’t think I was going to go through this whole thing without ONE naughty question, did you?)
Oh, wow. Hmm. I never wanted to try a wheelbarrow position - afraid my hands would slip and my face would crash into the floor. I like all the many positions we’ve managed to achieve. Of all those, if I were to choose the order in which we would do them, the last one I’d choose is reverse cowgirl - it’s a bit precarious and I‘m always afraid I‘m going to bend him too much the wrong way. (Sheesh, TMI!)

On on that note (!!), I'm off to notify my buddies I finally finished answering their questions. Make a great day by making someone else's day great! ;-)

Irishey's Isle is Open! Make your reservations now!

My first post on my newly created blog should have been be an introductory post about me, I suppose. Instead it was . . . . . - what WAS that? Lots of words, playing with my template and doing a features test run. There were some things about me, and about you, my blogger friends.

I suppose this could be considered my first "real" post, because it is more along the lines of what I originally intended and most of what follows was in draft before my blog template mishap. Still, this "first" post is not an introductory post about me. I don't always follow convention, although I can be quite conventional at times. This post, and a lot of my blog, is going to be about YOU, my ttwd friends, as much as it is about me. It may or may not be about US, my D and me, but more about that later.

I was told by a couple bloggy friends that my blog could be about anything I wanted. You are the reason I started this blog, you are the reason I will continue with it. Therefore, my blog is dedicated to you. (I know. Aaaawwww.)

I'm not being mushy simply to court your favorable reactions. I am sincere about this. I wouldn't be here blogging if it weren't for all of you, and I like to give credit where it is due. I'll explain, but you don't have to read all of this. Really. You'll miss out on all my -- well, whatever it is.

I've been lurking and commenting around ttwd-land for more than a year now. I've resisted starting my own blog because it involves time, creativity and commitment to compose pithy new posts on a regular basis. Furthermore, most of you share extremely personal information, so it is only fair for me to share intimate details about me/us in like manner. I have some issues with that, which I will explain as I continue to post. At any rate, having committed to starting a blog, I will contrive to do my best to continue blogging with a measure of consistency.

Despite my reluctance, I know there are advantages to having my own blog to serve as my HQ. I've long wished for a place from which to organize my participation in the ttwd community and stay better connected with my blogging friends. Is the feeling of being excitedly reluctant, or reluctantly excited, familiar to anyone else? Yeah, you know who you are.

Also, there are many bloggers who do not know I consider them to be potential friends because I merely lurk on their blogs. I think this would be a good time to acknowledge a few of my friends, both those who "know" me and those who do not:

I should start with Bonnie, from My Bottom Smarts, because she does so much to keep the spanking community involved with each other, and keeps all of us informed about new blogs that have launched. She is kind to regular and infrequent visitors to her blog alike, replying to comments with thoughtful specificity. Hordes of bloggers commented on her Love Our Lurkers Day 7 post, including me, and she was quite complimentary about my delurking comment. She also stopped by my first blog post that really wasn't, and left a warm welcome for me.

However, I can't start with Bonnie, because I feel impelled to follow a trend I've noticed - that first I must blame someone for my blog, namely PK. Come to think of it, PK seems to be blamed for quite a lot around ttwd-land. There is a problem with this, however, because I only lurk on PK's blog, New Beginnings, having commented only once, perhaps twice.  PK hasn't twisted my arm to blog, unlike a few others of you, so I am going to break with tradition and not blame her. Besides, later, I'm sure I'll find something to blame on her. ;-)

I am thanking the following folks for encouraging me to start a blog. Because of this, I also am blaming them for whatever shenanigans develop as a result of me blogging in the future:

There are a few more who've given me a nudge, or asked when I was going to start a blog. There are many more whose blogs have provided me with inspiration through their thoughtful posts and warmly quirky personalities. Thank you, all of you.

I need your help. I am putting the finishing touches on my "shoulda been 1st" post a few days after I started it. Today, I added a new first paragraph and updated the second, then returned it to draft mode so I could re-read it with fresh eyes a little later. I then made the mistake (?) of reading my email and a couple blogs. The above paragraph was the end of this post, until I went blog surfing and found...this:

I received a Liebster Award before my blog was launched. In fact, I think I received 3 of them, possibly 4 (I received one via blind copy on email - assume this counts?). Does anybody know exactly what this award is, where it originated? I had heard of it a while back, but cannot remember when and where. Was it going around here on blogs in the past year?

I have these Liebster Awards waiting for me to respond. Is there anybody out there who hasn't received it yet? Post a comment and tell me who missed being tagged, or who needs/wants the blog exposure. You can name yourself, or tattle on each other. I'll make sure these blogs are given their very own Liebster Award. *

I saw a blogger (non-ttwd) report she had researched it extensively, but was unable to find the "original" posting/announcement of the award. She noted it was meant to promote blogs with 3000 or fewer followers. That number has since been reduced to those with fewer than 200 followers (I have 9 - obviously I qualify). I am not speaking with any authority, just offering my recollection of what I read previously, and a little time spent searching after having received this award.

As for completing these questions and answers and forwarding them on to 33 or 44 bloggers, who each in turn forward them to another 11 bloggers... This might cycle back around to me again. Hhhmmmm.

I love that I was included in this, and I think it will be rather fun, though time consuming. However, this is Thanksgiving week with serious Christmas preparations beginning this weekend. I'm going to show you a little of my mettle here, folks...

Not Really the Beginning

Hi, all. The following is not what I intended for my introductory blog-launch post. Best laid plans and all...

Instead, you are getting the off-the-cuff results of me thinking to the page. Sigh. Sorry about that. Those plans were good ones, but they went awry when I was trying on blogger templates and playing around with customization options. Without warning, I had a glitch issue. When I was able to reload my excuse for a blog, I discovered my template appears to be corrupted. I had customized it quite nicely, and I'm rather ticked off about the whole thing.

The title layout, the color scheme and background that I mixed myself, my gadgets, widgets, doohickies and thingamajigs - all these things were present before the big burn, and were almost where I wanted them. My fonts were sized for normal people - It was not sized for those who can see microscopic typeface from across the room...

EVERYTHING APPEARS TO BE ALMOST ALL GONE.

(Hmm, I'm testing blogger's limited standard formatting options as I think out loud here. They seem to work in draft mode, and the Preview seems to be working for the post text. That's good, but my custom creation is no longer showing in the preview. I don't see a version option, and I don't have the time or patience to uncluster it. However, draft isn't the same as published, is it? I learned the hard way to be leary of the Preview option, so we'll see, won't we? Lol!).

I'm not even certain which content remains, some of which was there only for test purposes so I could see the placement on the finished page. Those things and many others are not showing in Preview, and I hadn't managed to get far enough to backup my template - gggrrrrr)... I hope some of that test stuff isn't still there - that could prove verrrrryyy interesting, BUT, I WONDER, ARE ALL MY PRETTIES GONE??!! It's not that bad. I have all that gooey junk saved on my laptop. I probably didn't need it anyway.

~ ~ ~

At any rate, I've decided to throw caution to the wind and let this post go live in the interest of activating this blog. I'll tinker with my layout as I go along, but right now I feel like hiring this little gal to run my blog for me.

Please let me know if you notice anything behaving erratically, or stumble across anything that might not belong there.

Oh, my stars! I'm so distracted by wondering if my blog page is going to look like a kindergarten project gone wrong, that I almost forgot about this, and I can't publish without it:

Thank you, my friends, for making me feel welcome and included in this wonderful group of people who share their most personal lives out here. Who'd 'a' thunk I would have found some of the most open, honest, intuitive, intelligent, introspective and generous souls I've ever encountered? I didn't expect it at all, especially because I couldn't link directly into most of the blogs without feeling I was being interrogated for stepping off into the realm of darkness. You know the drill, I'm sure:

When I first tiptoed onto this path and clicked ttwd blog links, it took me a while to become accustomed to not being redirected immediately to the blog. Blogger took me to their sparse, cold, almost ominous page where I was cautioned, in big text, on a traffic-orange background, no less:

Content Warning

...followed by a paragraph of blah, blah, blah... "that may be suitable only for adults..."

Hmm, should I have said, "Yikes!" and run for safety? Perhaps, but I didn't.

I thought, "Well, duh, I know where I want to go." I had the tiniest twinge of a titillating little thrill that I was about to see something naughty. I worried I would wreck into the worst trolls in existence, all circling like vultures waiting to drop on the unsuspecting who happened to wander into their carrion fields. Shiver. (Occasionally, I slip into alliteration. It must be a character quirk. Pay it no nevermind. I digress...)

Blogger wants to ensure, absolutely, positively, that I know what I want to do. In order to exit the warning and proceed to the blog I want to read, I am offered the solemn caveat and option to click a button that inquires if I am certain...

I understand and I wish to continue.

Okay, deep breath, let's see who/what is waiting on the other side of this scary button.

I can't begin to describe how differently I perceive most of you from the mental images I briefly conjured every time I saw that warning and confirmation button.

My mouse hovered a moment or two before I took the plunge into each of your blogs. Strangely enough, I didn't imagine any of you looking like the above couple. Ha! ;-)

The photo is titled, "Scary Couple." They are modelling their Halloween costumes, and they're actually kinda cute in a weird/odd way. I didn't want to post "true real life" photos of what I think is "scary" (which, I should mention, includes me in my old bathrobe and slippers). I know there is some obscure foot-in-mouth law which dictates I would post a photo of extra-curricular costumes and accessories used in at least one of my friend's occasional fantasy role-play scenarios. Not the thing to do! ;-)

~ ~ ~

Sometimes, on some blogs, I see and read about things that, generally, are considered to be very naughty. I truly appreciate most of it. I am a sensual, sexual adult female, after all. I believe in learning and understanding as much as possible about human sexuality and relationship dynamics. I find it fascinating there are so many varied ways in which people connect successfully.

Occasionally, however, I come across a blog where things are too coldly clinical or unappealingly raw for my taste - they grate on me or don't touch me where I am wired. I move on, secure in knowing I am entitled to my preferences as much as others are in expressing their own. Still, I find it interesting such diverse things appeal to people, often for very different reasons.

For instance, I can't imagine a time when the activity depicted above wouldn't put me in a "let's get down and dirty" mood, although I usually want to shower first (hiking together - you knew that, right?). Your mileage may vary.

~ ~ ~

I don't visit ttwd blogs to peruse porn. Aren't you glad I shared that with you? Lol! Okay, perhaps some of you go to the blogs in search of porn, but there probably are better places to find it. I hope nobody expects to find porn on my blog, although I'm sure our discussions may evolve (or devolve) into some steamy subject matter on occasion.

We all have experiences, and questions about our own and others' experiences. Where better to explore these things than here? I'll do my best to ensure our discussions never become too jarringly graphic or uncomfortable. Likewise, if you're reading my blog and notice the comments getting out of hand, I hope you will email me or the person(s) responsible so it can be handled off-blog.

~ ~ ~

I first started visiting ttwd blogs because I was drawn to the honesty and intriguing outlook presented at the Taken In Hand site. Some of the posters' comments truly resonated with me, and I believe I read a significant portion of the content on that site. I got caught up in the ttwd/dd blogs, and haven't been back to TIH in quite some time. I don't agree with every perspective of those who have posted there, but none of us are required to subscribe to all the views of everyone else.

I also found similarly interesting points of view on some sites dedicated to Christian Domestic Discipline, but I don't know that there is the direct correlation between Christianity and disciplining a wife, as many espouse. I found other informative sites that appealed to me on various levels. I'm sure there are site reviews around the blogs, so I'll leave that for another post(s).

There is/was some very good information on these sites and many others, and the majority of posters and commentors appear to be people who truly ascribe to the goal of working toward the best interests of their partners and improving the overall health of their relationship. I think, as most of us do, this is the primary motivation for wanting to incorporate ttwd in all our myriad ways. On the other hand, some of it would never appeal to me because it would feel oppressive, cruel and abusive. That is the good thing about ttwd - everyone custom-tailors it to suit their own needs, kinks, quirks, baggage, etc.

Apparently, I'm on a roll here. It's cleansing to think to the page and purge all that hostility about my wasted efforts earlier to make this blog my home away from home. I'll just keep typing. You don't have to read it.

As many ttwd bloggers have reported about their initial forays into learning about ttwd or connecting with others who already practice it, it wasn't long before I found Mick's former blog, "Husbandly Touch." This blog recently experienced serious technical difficulties and Mick removed it. Gosh, I miss having ready access to the wealth of knowledge in the posts and comments on "Husbandly Touch." The good news is Mick returned with a brand new blog called Mick and Lynda's Place, and he already has some really good posts, plus I hear he re-added some old blog content due to widespread demand.

In the beginning of my perusal of blogs, I also found Sara of findingsara; Stormy at Shelter in the Storm, and so many, many others, most of which I read from the first post. I've read almost every post of Mick's and Stormy's blogs, and comment occasionally on each. I may never work my way through all of findingsara. Her blog is extensive and has been active for over 7 years, at least.

Bonnie, PK and quite a few others also have blogs that have been around for years. I'm going to properly thank Bonnie in another post as I intended to do in my initial/launch post. I also intended to blame PK for something, because it's tradition, so I'll have to devise something plausible to place on her doorstep. PK actually invited me to save myself the trouble of reading all of her blog, and just post questions on her posts. I like PK.

I've also read many other blogs in their entirety. Please, nobody feel left out because I didn't list and link to you here. If I have commented on your blog, it's almost a certainty I've read your blog from the beginning - unless it has more content than Encyclopedia Brittanica. Often, a comment appealed to me, so I would link to that person to discover more. Before I knew it, I was reading their blog from the beginning while simultaneously continuing to read the blog I had linked from. Some blogs led me to ten more, twenty, thirty others - I lost count.

~ ~ ~

As time progressed and I began commenting on blogs, I became acquainted with people who are becoming some of the best friends I could imagine. I also came to appreciate and care for people who don't know the regard I have for them because I rarely or never comment on their blogs. I feel badly about this, but I'm hoping to remedy that as much as time allows. I've added some of the blogs I have frequented to my blog roll (we'll see when I publish this whether that was corrupted when my template crashed and burned).

None of this tells you much about me with respect to ttwd. I have to save something for future posts, but I shouldn't leave you completely hanging about us. This post feels unfinished without it, so I'll give you a snippet about my D.

~ ~ ~

When speaking to/with the wonderful man with whom I share my life, I often call him, "my (his name)." In fact, his real name begins with D - thus, here, he will be called "my D" or simply "D." My real name is not Irishey, by the way. Coincidently, it begins with S.

I don't plan to share many specifics about my D because his story is his own, but I will tell you I deeply love him. My D loves me exactly the same amount, or he loves me more. I know both to be true because he responds with one or the other assertion every time I tell him how much I love him. He occasionally calls me "Angel" when it's just the two of us. That makes me smile inside, probably because I'm not an angel.

~ ~ ~

I've thought to the screen for far too long. I'm sure it's disjointed and not well constructed. Poor of me to consider posting without a final re-reading and editing for content, double proofing, examining grammatical structure, but I have ambled and rambled aimlessly...

Sunnygirl, I should burglarize your blog title, because I, too, am a master (mistress?) of Aimless Ramblings - kicked up a huge notch. ;-)

I'm rolling the presses! Blessings, my friends.
